THE ROOSTER and the FOX
Retold & illustrated by Helen Ward
....Price printed inside front cover $16.95
This tale, of twelfth-century French origin, has been told for centuries, most notably by Geoffrey Chaucer as "The Nun's Priest's Tale" in The Canterbury Tales.
The story is about the fate of an excessively vain rooster.á Chanticleer's pride causes him to be outwitted and nearly done in by a particularly sly and cunning visitor to the farm.
Helen Ward illustrates the take with tremendous style.á She uses the rural setting to introduce the reader to many rare and beautiful breeds of barnyard animals, all of which are identified and commented upon at the end of the book.
Book was printed in Belgium for the Millbrook Press.
