CARTRIDGE MAINTENANCE TIPS
NOTE : THIS PROCEDURE APPLEIS TO HP ,DELL AND LEXMARK CARTRIDGES.
One of the keys to maintaning good print quality is proper
cleaning of the print cartridge before installing or if you
are getting poor print quality.Dust and dry ink is one of
the main reasons for degraded print quality. If the print
cartridge sits inactive for a period of time , inkmay dry up
in the nozzles.Dried ink clogging a nozzle is called an ink
plug. As a result of the ink plug , white streaks will be
visible in the printed text or graphic. To obtain better print
quatlity, purge the ink plug. This accomplished by gently
wiping the print head nozzle plate with a damp fiberless
paper towel , note:(damp with warm water). After, hold
the print head on the damp paper towel for about 3
seconds. This should clear the nozzles and allow the ink to
flow easier. Print a few lines in a high resolution ,this should
excercise more nozzles and push more ink out.
NOTE : THIS PROCEDURE APPLIES TO BROTHER , CANON AND EPSON CARTRIDGES.
If you find that the printed image is unexpectectedly faint
or dots in the printed image are missing, you may be able
to solve these problems by cleaning the print head, which
ensures that the nozzles are delivering ink properly.
NOTE: print head cleaning consumes some ink, so to avoid
waisting ink,clean the print head only if the print quality
declines.For example if the print out is blurry or the color
is incorrect or missing. Use the nozzle check utility first to
confirm that the print head needs to be cleaned. This saves
ink.
USING THE HEAD CLEANING UTILITY .
1. GO TO START
2. CONTROL PANEL
3. PRINTER & FAXES
4. RIGHT CLICK ON YOUR PRINTER ICON
5. CLICK PROPERTIES
6. FOR CANON (CLICK MAINTENANCE ) EPSON . (CLICK PRINT PREFERENCE ,THEN MAINTENANCE OR UTILITIES)
7. CLICK HEAD CLEAN
8. WHEN PRINTER IS COMPLETE . PRINT A NOZZLE CHECK(THIS FUNCTION IS ON THE SAME MENU AS HEAD CLEANING.
9. CHECK THE PRINT OUT TO SEE IF YOU ARE GETTING GOOD SOLID PRINT QUALITY.
If the nozzle check page does not print satisfactorily,you may need to repeat the head
cleaning and print the nozzle check pattern agian. If print quality hasn’t improved after
repeating this procedure four or five times, turn the printer off and leave it alone
overnight.Then do the nozzle check again and repeat the head cleaning if necessary.
NOTE: TO MAINTAIN GOOD PRINT QUALITY,WE RECOMMEND PRINTING A FEW PAGES
AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK.
