This award-winning kit is a unique bi-propellant rocket that was Discover magazine’s "Best New Product". The motor operates with a unique "patent-pending" hybrid fueling module. It is easy to build, re-usable, re-fuelable and includes complete assembly instructions with illustrations. The fuels used are acetic acid and Sodium bicarbonate
(vinegar and baking soda). An educational item for young and old.
Principles of Operation:
The rocket operates on a pressure-fed principle. The acetic acid is loaded into the reservoir first, followed by the sodium bicarbonate which is loaded into the fueling module. Once the sodium bicarbonate is introduced to the acetic acid, the reaction begins to create carbon dioxide gas. As the gas forms in the reservoir, the pressure slowly increases until it is sufficient to release the high pressure sealing plug. This allows the fluid in the bottle to escape, propelling the rocket upward. Once the rocket is recovered, it can be flown again in minutes.
