Mommy Cat

Noelle, an all black Asian & mixed breed female, is the mom to "The Terror", but she is unlikely to be intimidated by her offspring or any other cat around!

At a hefty 11 pounds, she knows how to "throw her weight around"!    (We believe that she liked her "mommy figure" so after she had her kittens she ate her way back to that round, plumpish look!)

The most undemanding and unassuming toward her humans of the cats in this household, she has claimed the sofa in the living room as hers and anyone who wishes to sit there does so with the knowledge that they get this BIG cuddly cat to warm their lap.    Otherwise, if you don't frequent Noelle's space, you are likely not see her much at all! (Except her human "aunt" and two human brothers...Noelle seems to just LOVE them when they visit!)

She's too big to jump and leap about like the other cats so she contents herself to taking up as much horizontal space as possible!

Noelle has requested that we use this older picture of her--just to show off her pre-mommy physique.

When we moved to the "country", Noelle wasn't so thrilled about being an indoor/outdoor cat but she has adapted.    It took her two years before she figured out she, too, could hunt.    Her first forays into hunting yielded shrieks of disgust from her human mom. Early in the second summer, Noelle discovered snakes and began bringing them "home" with her. We would watch her prance across the field and yard with a snake dangling from its very tippy tail from Noelle's mouth while she was making a beeline for the deck or porch with her "live" toy!    One day she deposited a very much alive snake on the mat outside the patio door. Yikes! She promptly sat down to watch the show and reacted not at all when the snake continued to hiss and strike at her. Meanwhile, Xandi came bounding up to see what the attraction was. Just as she stuck her nose around Noelle to see, the snake struck and Xandi jumped three feet into the air and ran off like a streak! We assume she had no interest in the snake show!

Noelle's human mom made her human dad take the snake back to the field while human mom gave cat a talking to about putting snakes on porches and decks, suggesting she leave the snakes alone completely. She couldn't quite do that, but she hasn't brought me a live snake on the doorstep again (yet!) although she did walk right by me the other day with a dead mouse that she deposited at the back door! We assume that Noelle has found her "country legs", so to speak!
