ItÆs another classic outing that show Doris as one of the best vocalist and interpreter of song to come along. Just the idea that she worked for years as a background vocalist for the exacting perfectionist, Nina Simone stamps her as one of the greatest. Her performances shows dictates that she take a seat beside, Aretha, Gladys, Nina, etc.
Swamp wrote and produced several sides on Patti Labelle & the Bluebells and three of them are featured here. The first one was a hit on Inez & Charlie Foxx, the second was written especially for her and the third is a Doris Duke original. Compare the two tracks.
